Champions following their 1-11 to 0-07 victory over Mungret in Claughaun last Saturday evening The Mungret Junior B hurling panel that defeated Monaleen by 1-11 to 0-07 in the final of the sponsored Horse & Hound Bar Mulgrave St. City Junior B hurling final in Claughaun last Saturday evening. City champions Mungret took control of this final right from the very start and were 1-09 to Monaleen’s 0-05 ahead at the half time break with Noel Madden of Monaleen getting all his sides scores Mungret goal in the opening half came from their full forward Denis O Connor in the second half Monaleen came more into the game but could not get scores on the board strangely enough both sides could only manage two points each in the second half due to most of the play was between the two 45 mitre lines and missed chances from both sides. Monaleen scores all came from their corner forward Noel Madden when he pointed over seven points five from place balls most of Mungret scores came from their conor forward Tom Giltenane when he pointed over seven points with six of them coming from place balls John Roche, Ronan Kirby, Dave Kelly with (0-01) each and Denis O Connor with the only goal of the game. Niall Barron captain of the Mungret team received the John Madden cup from Mr Noel Nicholas of the Horse & Hound Bar Mulgrave St who sponsored the City junior B hurling championship and Jim Riordan vice chairman of the City G.A.A. Board. Many thanks to the Claughaun club on having the grounds and playing pitch in great condition for the City final. In the Naughton’s Fuel & Oil Annacotty City Junior B football championship Patrickswell continue their unbeaten run when their recorded a six point victory 3-04 to 1-04 over last year’s winners St. Patrick’s last Sunday evening at Patrickswell and have now earned themselves a place in the semi finals this weekend with Killulta Gaels, Mungret and Milford. The semi final pairings is as follows Killulta Gaels will face Milford at Crecora and Mungret will take on Patrickswell at Clarina both semi finals will take place on this Saturday evening at 3pm. The Board would like to congratulate the Na Piarsaigh G.A.A. Club on their great victory over Ahane last Sunday evening in the County senior hurling final the Cahirdavin side won their first ever county senior hurling title and are still involve in two other county titles the under 21 and minor hurling final. Following their victory in the intermediate football relegation final recently the board would like to wish Claughaun the very best on this Sunday when they will face Monagea in the county intermediate hurling relegation final at Kilmallock. The next meeting of the board will take place on this Monday evening at the Woodfield house Hotel Ennis Road at 8pm.
