County Senior Football Championship Semi- Final

Newcastle West 2-11
Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-12

This was a game of two halves Dromcollogher/ Broadford led at half-time by 1-7 to 0-3 with the goal coming from Ray Lynch and then in the second half Newcastle West took over the game by scoring 2-8 compared to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-4, with the goals coming from James and Stephen Kelly.

The above club would thank the all the players for huge amount effort that they put during the year led by captain Tom McLoughlin and also the management team of Moss McCarthy Manager, John Stack, Eammon Scollard Selectors, Michael Fahy and John Brudair Trainers, Garry Noonan, Jim Barry, Dinny Scollard Backroom Team and Gareth Meaney PRO and First Aid Bridget Downes and Christine McCarthy.


Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the four points of the game without reply from Newcastle West and these points came from Pat Donnelly, Micheál Reidy, Micheál Brosnan and Ray Lynch and then Michael Quilligan of Newcastle West pointed a free with 12 minutes gone in the game to leave three points between the sides. Tom McLoughlin of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Michael Quilligan of Newcastle West exchanged points to leave three points between the sides once again.

Micheál Reidy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Stephen Kelly of Newcastle West exchanged points and then came the first goal of the game just before half-time from Ray Lynch for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave seven points between the sides at the break. To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-7 to Newcastle West 0-3.

James Kelly got a goal for Newcastle West inside the first 30 seconds of the second half to leave four points between the sides and then Shay Lyons of Newcastle West cut the lead down to three points by scoring a point. Micheál Reidy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Thomas Quilligan of Newcastle West exchanged points to leave three between the sides once again. Newcastle Wests scored another point coming from Stephen Kelly and then Stephen Kelly scored the second goal of the game for Newcastle West to give them the lead for the first time in the game with 47 minutes gone in the game.

Micheál Reidy pointed another free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and then Newcastle West scored another two points coming from Ian Corbett and Michael Quilligan to take the lead by a goal with 55 minutes gone in the game.

Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points cut the lead down a point and these points came from Michaél Reidy and Pat Donnelly and then Stephen Kelly scored the last point of the game for Newcastle West, and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford had a last chance to win the game but handful of Blocks from Newcastle West players both forwards and defenders and the goalkeeper as well. To leave the score at full-time Newcastle West 2-11, Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-12.

Non-Stop Draw

There is still an opportunity to join the local G.A.A. Club Draw. If any one wishes to do so. The first draw will take on Friday September 30th, at Nunan’s Bar, Dromcollogher, at 9pm.

A Table Quiz and Raffle in Association with St. Joseph’s Primary School, Dromcollogher will also take place on the night. As will the first performance of the local X Factor Competition. The Draw for fully paid will also be held on Friday September 30th, at O’Shea Bar, Dromcollogher, at 8.30pm.
